TOWN HALL
Although centred in the middle of towns and cities, town halls have faded into the background of the urban facade, appearing to have limited and very lateral uses. The aim of this project was to revitalise the idea behind the town hall, focusing on programmes relative to city of Brighton. By honing in on the increasing number of homeless persons and inebriated students, I was able to integrate the two in a beneficial environment for both, whilst also allowing these otherwise unheard members of the public to feed the views through to members of the local council.
Through using volunteers, members of the public deemed to drunk to function, would be taken in and looked after in calming 'cells' and fed in the morning - free of charge. Food would be made, grown and provided by the homeless for the intoxicated and the chamber members alike. The students are then encouraged to participate with the homeless in the food process to strengthen an all but severed bond between students and the homeless, proving that the new 'Open Arms Town Hall' is beneficial for all.
